DaimlerChrysler engineers were caught testing the redesigned 2001 Jeep Cherokee, code-named KJ, in the Arizona desert. Despite the disguise, the new Cherokee clearly is more rounded than today's boxy Cherokee. The redesigned Cherokee will stand about 10 inches higher than the current model. It will be assembled in a new plant under construction in Toledo, Ohio. Production models will begin rolling at the new plant in January 2001.
