Ford Motor Co. has a problem with document security. And instead of plugging the leaks, Ford took the easy way out: It yelled 'cop.'
The giant auto company obtained a temporary restraining order against Robert Lane, who posted classified Ford documents on his blueovalnews.com Web site. Ford wants a permanent injunction against any more postings, claiming Lane violated copyright laws.
That's just splitting hairs. If Lane had paraphrased the documents and simply reported on them instead of running them verbatim, Ford wouldn't have a case.
Ford should solve its own problems and avoid using heavy-handed tactics on others.
