Honda of America Manufacturing Inc. will halt production of the Acura CL in East Liberty, Ohio, this week until early next year. The CL will be redesigned for the 2001 model year. The other two Acuras produced in North America, the EL (Alliston, Ontario) and the TL (Marysville, Ohio), will have rolling changeovers to 2000 models this week.
Mercedes-Benz will conduct a rolling changeover today, Aug. 30, in Vance, Ala., for the M-class sport-utility.
Nissan Motor Manufacturing Corp. U.S.A. will perform a rolling changeover Tuesday, Aug. 31, for the Frontier two-door pickups assembled in Smyrna, Tenn.
Ford Motor Co. will perform a rolling changeover in Cuautitlan, Mexico, Friday, Sept. 3, for the Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique.
North American truck production reached 6 million units on Friday, Aug. 27, 40 days ahead of 1998. Truck production in 1999 is up 18.8 percent (955,019 units) over the year-ago period, which included 54-day strikes at General Motors.
