New United Motor Manufacturing Inc. built its 1-millionth pickup, a red 1999 Toyota Tacoma, in Fremont, Calif., on Thursday, Aug. 12. The plant began building pickups in 1991.
Ford Motor Co. will perform a rolling model changeover in Avon Lake, Ohio. Friday, Aug. 20, will be the last day for the 1999 Mercury Villager and Nissan Quest. Production of the 2000 models will commence Monday, Aug. 23.
