General Motors has named Amy Farmer manager of the Lansing, Mich., car assembly plants. The C Plant builds the Oldsmobile Alero and the Pontiac Grand Am. The M Plant builds the Grand Am. Farmer had been manager of the Buick City assembly plant in Flint, Mich., since 1997.
She replaces Jim Zubkus, who retired.
Farmer began her GM career in 1977 as a salaried employee-in-training for Buick. She became a material- and production-control supervisor a year later. Farmer held supervisory and administrative posts with Buick, the former Flint Automotive Division and the former Buick-Oldsmobile-Cadillac Group until she was named assistant plant manager for Buick City in 1994.
