AutoAlliance International Inc. will perform a rolling changeover on the Mazda 626 today, Aug. 2, at its plant in Flat Rock, Mich.
Nissan Motor Manufacturing Corp. USA will begin building the 2000 Nissan Altima on Tuesday, Aug. 3, in Smyrna, Tenn.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky Inc. (Georgetown, Ky.) will begin 2000 Camry production on Aug 3. Toyota Motor Manufac-turing Canada Inc. (Cambridge, Ontario) began production today of the 2000 Toyota Corolla and Camry Solara.
A rolling changeover was set for today at Ford Motor Co. plants in St. Thomas, Ontario (Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis); Edison, N.J. (Ford Ranger and Mazda B-series pickups); Louisville, Ky. (Ford Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer); Norfolk, Va. (Ford F series); Oakville, Ontario (Ford Windstar).
Ford ended production of the Ford Escort and Mercury Tracer at the Wayne, Mich., plant on July 2. In Escort's 19-year production run in the United States, 5,423,505 of the cars were built. Escort production will continue in Hermosillo, Mexico. The Tracer has been dropped for the 2000 model year.
