Jim Carter of Jim Carter Ford in Eau Claire, Wis., and Jim Carter Chevrolet-Mazda in Wausau, Wis., pledged $50,000 to match gifts to the Leadership Circle of the United Way of Greater Eau Claire.
The Detroit Auto Dealers Association presented a check for $362,300 to the Northeast Guidance Center, a Detroit organization providing services to high-risk children, families and chronically mentally ill adults; and a check for $540,200 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan. The money was a portion of the proceeds of the 1999 North American International Auto Show Charity Preview in Detroit in January.
Horst Winkler of Worldwide Motors in Indianapolis received a 30-year award from Mercedes-Benz USA Inc.
The Arizona Automobile Dealers Association elected its officers. They are: Martin Swanty of Martin Swanty Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep in Kingman, chairman; Tom Ross of Jack Ross Motors in Scottsdale, chairman elect; Mark Phelps of Oracle Ford-Mercury in Oracle, vice chairman; and Greg Galpin of Galpin Ford in Prescott, secretary-treasurer. W. Knox Ramsey Jr. is the association's president.
