ADT, Avis in training
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - ADT Automotive Technical Center and Avis Rent A Car have joined to develop two training programs for Avis employees involved in vehicle return, repair and maintenance appraisal.
The programs, held at the technical center here, are designed to educate Avis employees about how vehicles are designed, built and repaired. ADT opened the center in September 1998 to train employees, customers and suppliers about the auction system. About 1,000 people from vehicle companies, financial institutions and other companies have been trained.
ADT Automotive Technical Center is owned by ADT Automotive Inc., which operates 28 auto auctions in the United States.
THRIFTY ADDS 44
TULSA, Okla. - Thrifty Car Rental has added 44 locations in the United Kingdom, Mexico and eight other European, Middle Eastern, Latin American, Caribbean and South Pacific countries this year. That brings the total of Thrifty locations to 65 in the United Kingdom and 38 in Mexico.
Thrifty is a subsidiary of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Inc. and has an international network of about 1,200 airport and local car rental locations in 67 countries.
ONLINE PARTNERS
DETROIT - Stoneage.com has created a new online partnership with Trader On-line, Kelley Blue Book and Yahoo! Internet sites. The partnership allows customers to list the vehicle they want to sell on the national Kelley Blue Book site (www.kbb.com) as well as the Stoneage.com site (www.stoneage.com).
The ads feature a picture and a description of the vehicle and are added to the classified databases of Stoneage.com, Trader Online and Yahoo!
ADESA BUYS B.C. AUCTION
INDIANAPOLIS - ADESA Canada, based in Toronto, has acquired Vancouver Auto Auction in Westminster, British Columbia. Vancouver auction is expected to sell 45,000 vehicles through its six auction lanes annually.
ADESA Canada is a subsidiary of ADESA Corp., which operates 28 auctions in the United States and Canada.
