Depending on how you look at it, automotive executives are job-hopping these days, or automakers are raiding each other, even for design talent.
Either way, hurray. The marketplace has come to automotive jobs. No longer do executives just plod or claw their way upward in one company. If their skills fit better elsewhere, they're willing to move there.
Sure, plenty of Ford Motor Co. executives feel cheated because 'their' promotion went to an outsider. But Ford and other automakers are importing new ideas and perspectives, and going for the best. That has to be good.
