The Mexico car and truck sales tables on Page 40 of the Automotive News 1999 Market Data Book, published in May, listed 11-month totals for 1998 instead of 12-month totals. The full-year totals are listed on Page 59.
An article on Page 1 of the July 19 issue on General Motors' new engine attributed a quotation to the wrong person. Walter Schnittger of Adam Opel AG said, 'The big organizations were watching us very closely, and sometimes we felt a bit like gladiators in an arena.'
A story on Page 6 of the July 19 issue incorrectly presented June 1999 sales of several luxury makes as half-year sales. The correct six-month figures are as follows: Lexus, 89,829; Mercedes-Benz, 89,796; Cadillac, 87,364; and Lincoln, 81,131.
An item on Page 36C in some July 19 editions incorrectly stated the products made by NMB Technologies Corp. The company makes bearings for throttle assemblies, antilock brake systems and other components.
A table accompanying a report on General Motors Acceptance Corp. on Page 60 of the July 19 issue misidentified an 'S' rate as GMAC's SmartLease rate. The rate is the most favorable rate GMAC reserves for its best customers.
