General Motors will begin to build the 2000 Buick Century and Regal in Oshawa, Ontario, on Thursday, July 22, one day after stopping production of the 1999 versions of those cars.
GM's Arlington, Texas, plant also will begin 2000 model production this week. The plant builds the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra regular cab pickups, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade. The plant will conduct a rolling changeover July 21-22.
DaimlerChrysler's plant in Bramalea, Ontario, returns to work today, July 19, after a two-week changeover. The plant builds the Chrysler Concorde, LHS and 300M and Dodge Intrepid.
Also returning today is the Jefferson Avenue plant in Detroit (Jeep Grand Cherokee) after a one-week shutdown; the Toledo, Ohio, plant (Jeep Cherokee and Wrangler) after three weeks; and the Windsor, Ontario, plant (Dodge and Plymouth minivans) after a two-week shutdown.
