Fiat's redesigned Punto, the company's volume leader and Europe's best-selling supermini, has sharper lines on the doors and rear sections but generally keeps its overall shape and proportions. The car, in three- and five-door versions, goes on sale this month in Italy; it will not be sold in the United States. A 1.2-liter gasoline engine in eight- and 16-valve versions replaces the 1.1-liter 55-hp base powerplant. A 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine also will be offered.
