When Mercedes-Benz rolls out its next-generation C-class sedan, expect it to resemble closely the flagship 2000 S class that had its North American launch in January. This computer-retouched image, based on a lightly masked prototype of the C class, shows that the car will grow slightly and will ride on an extended wheelbase. Outside, styling is much like that of the new S class. The new C class is expected to offer such S-class features as electronic distance and speed control, rear-door side airbags and a center console unit that combines stereo, telephone and satellite navigation. The new C class is expected to go on sale in May as a 2001 model.
