Dana gets deals for aftermarket
TOLEDO, Ohio - Dana Corp. has reported new aftermarket business totaling more than $150 mil-lion in annualized sales. Dana will supply brakes and brake components to Carquest Corp. Dana's Wix Filtration Products Division was selected to supply air filters and oil filters for Kmart Corp. Dana also will supply engine management products and wire sets to CSK Auto Inc. A contract to supply ignition, fuel, carburetor and emissions products was awarded by O'Reilly Automotive Inc.
MORTON ADDS 3 PLANTS
MORTON, Ill. - Morton Industrial Group Inc. said it acquired three plants belonging to the Worthington Custom Plastics division of Worthington Industries Inc. in Columbus, Ohio. The plants, which last year generated sales of more than $100 million, will be known as Morton Custom Plastics. The plants, which employ a total of 1,200 people, are in Harrisburg, N.C.; Lebanon, Ky.; and St. Matthews, S.C.
BOSCH-MAGNETI MARELLI VENTURE
STUTTGART, Germany - Robert Bosch GmbH and Magneti Marelli S.p.A. of Milan, Italy, have agreed to form a 50-50 automotive lighting joint venture. The venture involves the Bosch Division Automotive Lighting Technology group in Reutlingen, Germany, and Magneti Marelli's lighting division in Venaria, Italy.
FIRM FORMS SUPPLIER
NEW YORK - Private investment firm Saunders Karp & Megrue said it has formed Precision Partners Inc. from five acquisitions at a cost of $165 million. Precision Partners, based in Irving, Texas, supplies complex precision metal parts, tooling and assemblies for the original-equipment market. Precision Partners had 1998 pro forma revenue of $135 million. Saunders Karp & Megrue is a private merchant bank that manages more than $800 million of equity capital.
IMAGE SENSOR DEAL
GENEVA - STMicroelectronics Inc. has acquired Vision Group PLC of Edinburgh, Scotland, a supplier of imaging technology. The acquisition is expected to assist the Livonia, Mich.-based automotive unit of STMicrolectronics Americas Inc. in developing image sensors designed to replace automotive mirrors.
MOTOROLA LANDS JAGUAR DEAL
WASHINGTON - Motorola Inc. will supply Jaguar with a merged wireless communications and global positioning system for roadside assistance in S-Type sedans. The deal was announced here at the annual meeting of the Intelli-gent Transportation Society of America. Motorola, of Schaumburg, Ill., posted sales last year of $29.4 billion.
KEY ACQUIRES FOGGINI
DETROIT - Key Plastics LLC of Novi, Mich., has acquired the Foggini Group of companies based in Turin, Italy. The Foggini Group, which expects to report 1998 sales of $130 million, supplies plastic injection molded components for European automakers and Tier 1 suppliers. Pro forma 1998 sales for Foggini and Key European Group are forecast at $250 million.

DETROIT - George P. Johnson Co. of Auburn Hills, Mich., has acquired a majority stake in Raumtechnik Messebau GmbH of Stuttgart, Germany. The company will be renamed Raumtechnik Messebau & Event Marketing GmbH. George P. Johnson Co. provides exhibit and event services. Clients include DaimlerChrysler in the United States and Robert Bosch GmbH of Germany.
ETAS BUILDS N. AMERICAN BASE
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Etas Inc. has broken ground for a 21,300- square-foot North American headquarters. Etas employs 29 people in North America; the company plans to hire 10 more by the end of the year. Etas provides engineering services and tools for automotive embedded controls systems development. It is a subsidiary of Robert Bosch Corp. of Broadview, Ill.

DETROIT - i2 Technologies Inc. of Irving, Texas, which provides electronic business-process expertise, has opened a new global headquarters for its Automotive and Industrial Business Unit in Troy, Mich.
SVERDRUP BUILDS WIND TUNNEL
TULLAHOMA, Tenn. - Sverdrup Technology Inc. of Tullahoma has begun building a climatic wind tunnel for German automotive component supplier Behr GmbH & Co. The tunnel will be near Stuttgart, Germany, and will be able to simulate conditions ranging from the heat and aridity of Saudi Arabia to the frozen climate of Siberia. It also will provide aerodynamic testing that resembles Autobahn speeds. Completion is scheduled for late 2000. Sverdrup Technology designs and manufactures automotive test facilities.
