Career: His automotive career spans 36 years and includes stops at Adam Opel AG, GM of France, BMW, Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Corp. He was Chrysler president from Jan. 14, 1991, to Dec. 5, 1996, when he was named vice chairman. He retired July 1, 1998. Lutz presently is CEO of battery supplier Exide Corp.
