Car and truck manufacturers in North America produced their 5 millionth vehicle of the year Friday, April 16, four days earlier than in 1998.
Nissan Motor Manufacturing Corp. U.S.A. will begin production of the Nissan Xterra sport-utility on Monday, April 19, in Smyrna, Tenn.
Here's how the year-to-date production compares with last year at this point:
U.S. cars are down 2.2 percent; Canadian cars are down 10.5 percent; Mexican cars are down 12.0 percent; and North American cars are down 5.1 percent.
U.S. trucks are up 9.4 percent; Canadian trucks are up 14.4 percent; Mexican trucks are down 29.5 percent; and North American trucks are up 7.9 percent.
U.S. cars and trucks are up 4.1 percent; Canadian cars and trucks are down 0.6 percent; Mexican cars and trucks are down 17.9 percent; and North American cars and trucks are up 1.4 percent.
