In a March 26 message alerting dealers about the April 6 broadcast, Ford's Customer Service Division made these contentions about why Saturday service is good business:
A dealership open all day Saturday
increases service capacity 15 to 20 percent.
Thirty-eight percent of consumers prefer to have vehicles serviced on Saturday.
Forty-two percent of Saturday business will be customers who have never come in for service.
Opportunities to sell vehicles will increase.
