Here is a computer-enhanced peek at the new BMW 7 series that is due around 2001. It will replace the current model, which was introduced in 1994. The all-new model is beefier in appearance, has a higher beltline and a bigger, twin-kidney grille. Wheels are at the extreme corners. Under the skin, the new model will share more hardware, such as the basic electrical system, with other BMWs. That cuts cost and reduces complexity. To keep up with the Mercedes S class, the new 7 will likely be crammed with high-tech features, such as satellite navigation, 'intelligent' cruise control and the latest in ABS/traction/yaw control.
