DETROIT - The Society of Manufacturing Engineers has named Cecil Schneider as its 1999 president.
Schneider is manager of the Advanced Structures and Materials Division of Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems of Marietta, Ga. He also is chairman and a director of aerospace companies consortium Composites Materials Characterization Inc.
As president, Schneider said, he will emphasize the value of membership in the Society of Manufacturing Engineers; the importance of staying in the forefront of electronic communication; and the organization's manufacturing education plan, which will debut a Web site on technical education for K-12 students.
In addition, Ronald Harrelson has been named president-elect of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He is a board member and has been an organization member since 1971. Harrelson is a training manager for Caterpillar Inc. of Morton, Ill.
The Society of Manufacturing Engineers is an international organization whose 65,000 members include professionals in the automotive industry and related industries.
