Frank Pereira, General Motors brand manager for advanced-technology vehicles, resigned from the company Jan. 21.
Pereira joined GM in October 1997, from Siebel Systems Corp., a software company in San Mateo, Calif. GM hoped his entrepreneurial spirit would pervade the company's electric vehicle and alternative-fuel technology and marketing. Since launching the EV1 in December 1996, General Motors has leased 563 of the electric vehicles.
Pereira could not be reached for comment. GM spokesman Richard Thompson said Pereira did not give a reason for his resignation.
Joseph D'Antonio will assume role of acting brand manager for alternative transportation vehicle field sales and service. Sharon Dudley-Parham will be acting brand manager for alternative transportation vehicle market strategy and analysis.
