DETROIT - Leslie Touma has returned to Lear Corp. as director of corporate relations.
Touma had taken a leave of absence in 1998 to campaign as the Republican candidate to represent Michigan's 12th Congressional District. She was defeated by incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Sander Levin in the general election last November.
Touma had joined Lear as director of corporate communications in 1994. Before that, she had served as a policy analyst for Michigan Gov. John Engler on international trade issues. She also has served as a policy analyst on strategic and theater defense issues at the U.S. Defense Department.
She now will be responsible for the direction and management of Lear's corporate communications, government relations, community relations and marketing communications worldwide.
Lear is an automotive interior systems supplier based in Southfield, Mich.
