Volkswagen AG's Bentley marque has moved quickly to prepare a challenge to Mercedes-Benz's upcoming ultra-luxury flagship, the Maybach. This unretouched, uncamouflaged photograph provides a clear view of the new Bentley, which is referred to as the E-platform. Sources say pricing will start around $250,000, with production limited to 6,000 to 10,000 units. They add that the new Bentley will be unveiled at the Frankfurt auto show this fall and sales will start in 2000.
