DaimlerChrysler Corp., Kia, Isuzu and Subaru have new incentive programs; Chevrolet has revised finance terms and a few rebates, and Nissan and Toyota have extended their payouts.
DaimlerChrysler added the 1999 and 1998 Chrysler Sebring convertibles to the rebate list and boosted the payment by $500 on the 1998 Chrysler Cirrus and Sebring coupe, the 1998 Dodge Stratus and Avenger and the 1998 Plymouth Breeze.
The programs expire April 5 with a few exceptions - Feb. 15 for the 1998 Dodge/Plymouth Neon and July 5 for the Sebring convertible.
Chevrolet added $250 to the customer rebates on the 1998 Cavalier sedan and all 1998 Luminas.
The payments on the 1999 Cavalier coupe and sedan and the 1999 and 1998 Monte Carlo and Malibu had been scheduled to drop $250 after Jan. 4. They didn't; they stayed at the December figures.
Chevrolet extended its buyer incentives on 1999 models until March 31; the spiffs on 1998 models end Jan. 31.
In lieu of rebates, the finance rate on 1999 models is now 2.9 percent on loans of 12 to 36 months. It had been 0.9 to 3.9 percent.
The $800 rebate on the Toyota Tacoma pickup has been extended until March 3. It is for the dealer or the customer - dealer's choice.
Nissan's $2,000 rebate on all 1998 models has been extended until March 31.
Also running until the end of March are customer rebates of $500 to $2,500 on the 1999 Maxima, Altima, Sentra, Frontier and Pathfinder.
Some of those payments on 1999 models vary by regions.
Until March 1, Isuzu's dealer incentives are $1,000 to $1,600 on the 1999 Rodeo and $1,500 on the 1999 Trooper S. Troopers equipped with the performance or luxury package bring $1,000.
Dealer rebates on 1998 models range from $1,500 to $3,000. On the 1998 Hombre pickup, the dealer rebate is $2,500 plus a $500 bonus after reaching unit No. 11. The bonus is retroactive to the first sale.
Kia's buyer incentives end Jan. 15. Payments are $750 to $1,500 on the 1999 Sephia and $500 on the 1999 Sportage sport-utility.
On 1998 models, rebates are $1,500 on all Sephias and the Sportage EX and $2,000 on the base Sportage.
Subaru's rebates are for the customer in some regions, for the dealer in others.
Payouts range from $500 to $750 on the 1999 Legacy and Impreza and $500 to $1,250 on the 1998 Legacy and Impreza. They are scheduled to expire Feb. 26.
