Above is the first nearly unobstructed view of the front of the new mid-sized Saturn, which will be the second model range in the Saturn line. This larger Saturn goes into production in Wilmington, Del., in mid-1999. It is based on the Opel Vectra, right. Sources say the new Saturn model, which will be called the LS, features plastic doors and fenders, while the roof, hood and trunk lid will remain metal. Styling differences between the Saturn LS and the Vectra appear in the front grille opening, bumper fascia and the shape of the headlights and turn signals. The taillights on the LS mimic the smaller Saturn, which will continue to be marketed. Four- and six-cylinder engines will be offered in the LS line.
