Automotive News has revised the summary lines on its monthly and year-to-date sales tables to reflect the end of the Big 3 and to show the sales totals for corporate groups.
The line 'Made in North America' includes U.S. sales of vehicles made in the United States, Canada and Mexico by Ford Motor Co., General Motors and overseas-based manufacturers that sell in the U.S. market. Likewise, 'Made in Japan' (or Europe or Korea) is U.S. sales of vehicles made in those countries.
The lines 'GM-Saab,' 'Ford-Jaguar' and 'Chrysler-Mercedes' show the U.S. sales of corporate groups.
The new approach was developed by Anne Wright, assistant managing editor for data services, and Mary Raetz, statistician.
