The Big 3 plan to eliminate many weekly vehicle production statistics for North America.
As of May 1, the automakers will no longer report weekly production by make (Chevrolet, Buick, Ford) and by nameplate (Cavalier, LeSabre, F series). They will continue to report production by category (car, truck) and by country.
The automakers will continue to report monthly data as before.
George Pipas, a Ford sales analyst, said Ford is reviewing everything it does and is continuing only activities that provide the most value.
How valuable are the weekly production numbers? How do you use these numbers? What do you think of the automakers eliminating production information?
