SCHULENBURG, Texas - Tom Bell, 91, former owner of Tom Bell Chevrolet in Memphis, Tenn., died here July 3. He began as a salesman for the former Union Chevrolet in Memphis in the 1930s. By 1947, he was a partner, and in 1972, he became the dealer. He retired and sold the store in 1990.
VERO BEACH, Fla. - Richard Daniels, 80, died July 7. He was co-owner of Daniels Buick dealerships in Canton and Columbus, Ohio, in the 1950s. He owned Richard Daniels Cadillac of Hartford, Conn., from 1959-78, when he retired and sold the dealership.
WAYZATA, Minn. - Terry Feldmann, 51, owner of Feldmann Imports Inc. (Mercedes-Nissan) in Bloomington, Minn., died June 2. He opened the store in 1983.
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Joseph McKnight, 66, owner of McKnight Trucks Inc. of New Philadelphia, Ohio, died June 26. He founded the Ford and Peterbilt truck dealership in 1974. He retired and turned the store over to his son, Tom, this year.
DAYTON, Ohio - Bob Ross, 62, owner of Bob Ross Buick-GMC-Mercedes of Centerville, Ohio, died July 6. He opened Bob Ross Buick in Richmond, Ind., in 1974 and founded the Ohio dealership in 1979. In 1995, Black Enterprise magazine ranked him 20th among the nation's top 100 black auto dealers. His store posted nearly $60 million in sales that year. In 1972, Ross was among the first graduates of the General Motors minority dealer academy. He was the first U.S. African-American Mercedes-Benz dealer.
ROLLA, Mo. - George Schwieder, 79, former owner of Schwieder Ford in Steelville, Mo., died July 14. He started working at the family-run dealership in 1932 when he was 14. He retired as dealer in 1986 and turned the store over to his son, Kim.
ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. - Loren Tichy, 81, former owner of Thexton Manufacturing Co. of Minneapolis, died July 6. He was chairman and president from 1956-80, when he retired and sold the specialty tools and diagnostics supplier to his sons.
