1986 - AB Volvo and General Motors Corp. sign agreement to
jointly manufacture heavy trucks in United States. Volvo holds 76
1987 - Canadian sales and technical support affiliate, Volvo GM Canada Heavy Truck Corp., begins operations.
1988 - Volvo GM Heavy Truck Corp. production begins.
1992 - Volvo boosts share of joint venture to 87 percent.
1995 - Remaining WhiteGMC nameplates dropped in favor of Volvo badge. (Volvo had acquired some assets of the White Motor Co. in 1981.)
1997 - Volvo acquires GM's remaining share of joint venture and
renames U.S. business Volvo Trucks North America Inc.
