Wholesale deliveries of both motor homes and conversion vehicles showed double-digit declines in May.
Deliveries of all motor homes totaled 4,600 units in May, down 13.2 percent from the 5,300 units delivered in May 1996, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association.
Shipments of Class C motor homes totaled 1,200 in May, off 29.4 percent from last year. Manufacturers reported deliveries of 3,000 Class A motor homes, a decline of 9.1 percent from the same month of last year.
Through May, shipments of all motor homes totaled 23,500, a decline of 8.6 percent compared with the first five months of 1996.
Deliveries of all van conversion vehicles totaled 17,500 units in May, down 11.2 percent from the 19,700 vehicles shipped in May 1996.
Through the first five months of 1997, van conversion deliveries totaled 89,600 units, down 6.1 percent from the 95,400 units delivered in the same period of last year.
