LOS ANGELES - Mazda Motor Corp. last week unveiled a new logo - a winged 'M' inside an oval - as part of an ongoing campaign to beef up its worldwide image.
Mazda's current logo, a flame inside a circle, is only 6 years old. It had to be reworked quickly because the first version too closely resembled the diamond used by France's Renault.
The old symbol was used in export markets, but did not appear on some vehicles in the domestic Japanese market. Beginning this summer, most Mazda vehicles sold worldwide will carry the new brand symbol.
