Two Internet car buying services have reached multimillion-dollar agreements with Vienna, Va.-based America Online that boost exposure for subscribing dealers.
CUC Shopping and Lifestyle Clubs, the Houston-based owner of the AutoVantage buying service, entered a $50 million agreement.
The agreement includes direct mail, telemarketing, America Online links to CUC's NetMarket commerce site and CUC ads on America Online's Shopping Channel and screens of other anchor tenants.
Auto-By-Tel of Corona del Mar, Calif., has signed a three-year advertising agreement for $18 million. Inlcuded are banners and pop-up ads as well as a site on AOL.
Auto-By-Tel will sponsor a section called 'Wheels' on America Online's 'Life Styles and Interests' channel and offer monthly car giveaways.
The company's site will have links to AutoSite, an online auto buyer's guide.
AutoVantage already had a presence on America Online, but for Auto-By-Tel, this is a first.
