A prototype of the Smart city car undergoes tests in preparation for the two-seater's European launch next spring. Initially, the Smart is expected to be powered by a three-cylinder turbocharged engine. A three-cylinder direct-injection turbodiesel is expected to follow. The car will be built by Micro Compact Car AG, a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and SMH, which produces Swatch watches.
