DETROIT - Ford Motor Co. has raised prices $100 on its strong-selling Expedition full-sized sport-utility and on the Ranger two-wheel-drive compact pickups.
The company also increased by $100 the prices of F-250 heavy-duty pickups (over 8,500 pounds gross vehicle weight) and F-350 pickups. Ford did not announce the increases. In the past, the company has said it does not announce mid-model-year price actions.
Automotive News estimates that the price increase amounts to $12 when spread across the entire fleet of Ford Motor cars and light trucks. It brings Ford's aggregate increase to $364, or 1.6 percent, on 1997 models.
The Expedition now starts at $28,260 for the 4x2 XLT. The top model, the 4x4 Eddie Bauer, is $34,865. The prices include the $640 destination charge.
