GM touts battery cost, range breakthroughs

The automaker says the EVs it plans to build next year will be profitable and have up to 400 miles of range as a result of its new joint venture with LG Chem.

Toyota said its China sales fell 70 percent last month. GM said the industry will face serious challenges in the first quarter, but anticipates the situation will ease in the second quarter.

    Toyota said the recall now covers 1.8 million Toyota and Lexus vehicles in total in the United States, including older vehicles from as far back as the 2013 model year.

    Toyota, Honda, Hyundai rack up gains in Feb.
    Several automakers, led by Toyota, Honda and Hyundai, posted higher U.S. sales last month as consumers took advantage of rising incentives and President's Day deals. Subaru, Kia, Mazda and Volvo also saw increases, with light trucks and two extra selling days driving most of the gains. The SAAR topped 17 million.

    Ford, UAW ban nonessential air travel as coronavirus spreads
    The ban will extend until at least March 27 but could be extended as Ford reevaluates the situation weekly. The UAW also issued a travel ban on Wednesday.

    The automaker will offer the EV in cargo van, cutaway and chassis cab configurations, plus three roof heights and three body lengths. The van joins an F-150 EV and the Mustang Mach-E in Ford's growing electric-vehicle portfolio.

    New York auto show stocks up on disinfectant and stays on schedule

    Five weeks before the New York auto show is scheduled to open, the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association said it has already installed 70 hand-sanitizing stations throughout the convention center where carmakers are expected to unveil more than 50 new models.

    Nikola merger with VectoIQ will finance EV production, hydrogen stations

    Nikola said it has "more than 14,000 pre-orders representing more than $10 billion in potential revenue and two-and-a-half years of production."

    The company did not initially provide details on the volume of the envisaged cuts and where they could occur, while adding it had decided not to build up battery cell production.

    Former Continental exec extradited to U.S., pleads guilty to antitrust charge

    Eun Soo Kim, a Korean citizen who was a fugitive for nearly five years, was arrested by German authorities in Frankfurt in September 2019. He agreed to extradition to the U.S., where he was sentenced to nine months in prison.
