We asked our 40 Under 40 honorees: What would people be surprised to learn about you?

"I actually can drive a race car — taking after my dad. My dad was a race car driver here in the local area and I've done a few racing schools with him that would allow me to get my competitive license if I wanted. It is a super gas car that can go to 60 mph in 1.8 seconds." — Carly Weck

"While I may not look like a basketball player since I'm no longer in peak physical shape, I still hold the single-game scoring assist record [11] for my high school's varsity basketball team." — Alex Morton

"It's a joke, but I always say that other people wear my underwear. I have my own athleisure clothing line with my wife. We make athletic wear, including underwear, because underwear was always super uncomfortable for me. It's called 7th And Leroy, the streets where I got my first apartment in New York." — Nathan Meckley

"I just started training for competitive speed puzzling. I'm doing some local speed puzzling and then I'm currently training for the competition that's going to be here in Portland called the [Portland Jigsaw Masters]. I have high hopes that maybe next year, maybe the year after, I can even be good enough to compete in Spain at the world championship of speed puzzlers." — Ashley Mabery

"I am a Harry Potter nerd. I've been to the theme park at Universal multiple times. I used to dress up for all of the movie premieres. I would go in my cloak, and I have my wand and everything. In my house, I have a library that has a whole shelf dedicated to all of my Harry Potter things. I have four different wand spells tattooed on my finger." — Carin Czerniawski

"I was a three-time NCAA Division II wrestling All-American at the University of Nebraska Omaha. Our team won two national titles while I was there." — Ross Taplin

"I am obsessed with the paranormal. I believe in ghosts, I believe in aliens, I believe in bigfoot. I think all of it is real. And I constantly watch shows about it." — Bethany Sobczak

"I was trying to become a professional soccer player in the U.K. for a team called Nottingham Forest. And I left home at age 16 and I moved in with about 15-16 other guys and we trained every day to try and become a professional soccer player." — Jack Pearson

"All of my interests and hobbies are things that people never expect. I'm an avid fisherman — or an angler, if you will. I shoot on a competitive shooting team with my sister. My dad made me get my black belt in Taekwondo at the age of 15." — Gabrielle Abinion

"While growing up, I rode horses and did competitive barrel racing at small local rodeos in Florida. I even won a few competitions." — Rachel Van Hart

"I actually have a car tattoo. I have a '67 Chevelle tattooed on my ankle. And even though I'm in sales, I do consider myself to be an introvert, so that tattoo, it says 'Let success be your noise.' " — Amanda O'Brien

"I used to work on the drilling rigs as a derrickhand in northern Canada for eight years. I was born and raised in northern Canada in a small mountain town that gets insane amounts of snow." — Mike McMeeken
