Ford Motor Co. was criticized by the Euro NCAP safety organization after its Mustang sports car scored two stars out of a maximum of five in crash tests. Ford said it will fit automatic emergency braking technology on an updated version of the car available to European customers who order after September.

Ford Motor Co. is making midcycle changes to the Mustang in an effort to stay on top of the muscle car sales race, even as demand for such vehicles wanes. The biggest change as part of the popular pony car's 2018 model year freshening comes under the hood, where Ford is dropping its 3.7-liter V-6 engine.
