Audi puts $2,000 premium on 3 new diesels

Audi plans to charge a premium of more than $2,000 for its three new TDI models, testing luxury buyers' willingness to pay for the fuel economy of a diesel. The company announced last week that the A6 TDI sedan will start at $58,395; the A7 TDI four-door coupe will start at $67,795; and the Q5 TDI crossover will start at $47,395. Audi to expand diesel option to A8, A7, A6 and Q5

Audi will begin offering 3.0-liter V-6 diesel engines in the A8, A7 and A6 cars and the Q5 crossover beginning next year. The four TDI diesel-equipped models will make their debuts next week at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Audi already offers a diesel powerplant in the Q7 crossover, but the 2013 model features an updated engine.
