China's BAIC Motor started selling cars imported from China in Mexico and aims to reach 5,000 sales a year by 2018. BAIC, a unit of Beijing Automotive Group, joins a host of global automakers who have set up operations in Mexico to access markets in the U.S. and Latin America. It sold its first car in Mexico last month.

Chinese automaker BAIC Motor is in talks with Daimler about taking a stake in the German luxury carmaker, Reuters reported. If a deal is completed BAIC will become one of Daimler's top shareholders after Kuwait and Renault-Nissan.
