Ford supplier Flex-N-Gate is giving residents of one of America's poorest city neighborhoods dibs on 500 new parts jobs.
The mayor of Detroit and the billionaire owner of auto supplier Flex-N-Gate on Monday offered a sneak preview of what will be the largest new auto factory built in the city since the 1990s.
Supplier Flex-N-Gate plans to invest $2.2 million and create 50 jobs at a new r&d center near Detroit in Sterling Heights, Mich.
Flex-N-Gate broke ground on a $95 million plant on Detroit's east side that Mayor Mike Duggan touted as the largest supplier investment in the city in more than two decades.
