The Italian Design House and coachbuilder Pininfarina has a history that dates back to 1930. Pininfarina offers to the market - both OEMs and final consumers - competitive products and services based on its brand values: creativity, experience and innovation.

Pininfarina designed the Rising Stars trophy in 2011, the annual award presented by Automotive News Europe that honors mid- and upper-level managers who are likely to become CEOs or executive board members in the future.

"We are pleased to associate Pininfarina with an award that celebrates the most successful and talented young people from the industry" - said Chairman Paolo Pininfarina. "Thinking of the leaders of tomorrow we started from the concept of Michelangelo's 'Non finito', a technique that consists of sculpting some parts of the figure while leaving other parts rough, thus catching just a glimpse of the image that the artist is freeing from material. As it is for the Rising Stars trophy, which recognizes the young managers whose enormous potential can already be perceived".

    About the Rising Stars Awards

Based on the success of the Automotive News Europe EUROSTARS event honoring the leaders of the automotive industry, it was decided to implement a new yearly program honoring those automotive executives in middle and upper management whom are likely to become the 'Eurostars' of tomorrow, together with the companies who are nurturing that future leadership talent. These 'Rising Stars' are already setting the agenda for the industry of tomorrow and stand to reap the biggest rewards over the next decade.

In 2013 the Rising Stars came from all disciplines - designers, engineers, financial bosses, purchasing and product planners - and from companies across Europe, including Volvo, Ford, Peugeot, Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan and Johnson Controls just to name a few.

Who can become a Rising Star?

A 'Rising Star' is an automotive executive with a pan-European profile, distinguished for having driven change, fostered innovation and made courageous decisions. To qualify, candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of work experience, have multiple language skills, be 45 years or younger. We accepted nominations from carmakers, suppliers, automotive service providers and retail/aftersales businesses. A candidate may have nominated him/herself or have been nominated by a colleague, manager or mentor via this website or directly via the Automotive News Europe editorial team.
