Asian carmakers are taking hits to their profits from having to spend more to move metal in America. Nissan and Hyundai both said higher U.S. incentives dented Q2 profits.

Daimler to make batteries at German Mercedes plant

Daimler has struck a deal with workers to make EV components and batteries at a Mercedes factory in Germany. Employees at the Untertuerkheim plant went on strike this month over worries that jobs could be at risk as the automaker moves toward EVs.
