Chrysler Group, seeking to boost sales after a dismal October, launched a major new incentive campaign today. Chrysler timed the announcement for this morning so dealers could place ads in their local media outlets over the weekend and ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday period. The incentives take effect today and run through Jan. 4. |

Fiat S.p.A. may have to close factories in Italy, given sharp falls in auto sales which have changed the sector dramatically, CEO Sergio Marchionne said today. More than 100 Chrysler dealerships face possible closure if they cannot reach new financing deals with GMAC Financial Services or another lender, people involved in the process said. Some 1,500 Chrysler dealerships sought financing through GMAC, which replaced Chrysler Financial as preferred lender to the dealerships in April, while the rest made other deals. |
