Buick is expanding the Avenir subbrand to its flagship sedan, the LaCrosse. It features unique styling and additional standard features and premium materials. It also features Avenir badging and exclusive 19-inch Pearl Nickel or available 20-inch Midnight Silver wheels. It's the second nameplate to receive the upscale Avenir trim following the 2018 Buick Enclave.

BMW's next-gen X5 midsize crossover is taking shape and the redesign appears conservative -- except for the a new snout. The brand's kidney grilles have been enlarged vertically again. The larger grilles may be needed to admit more air to the engine for cooling or to feed a turbocharger or two.

The 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 will receive a more sculpted grille, smoother body and the brand's new signature LED running lights. GM appears to be further differentiating the Sierra from its Chevrolet Silverado sibling. Based on previous spy photos, both have unique front fascias. But the bodies mostly appear the same with slight differences in the rear.

Spy photos show that the next-gen Chevrolet Silverado will have relatively flat body panels that likely indicate aluminum. The headlights and taillights are bigger, and the roof now has a slight slope, perhaps to aid aerodynamics. The pickup — and its GMC Sierra counterpart — are likely to break cover officially sometime next year.

The Lexus LS+ Concept is based on the re-engineered LS sedan and will be used to showcase self-driving technologies and design direction.It draws heavily from the current flagship that will go on sale in the U.S. early next year, but with a new iteration of its front grille and the use of laser effects on the front headlamps. The concept features an automated mode called Highway Teammate that will be deployed in 2020. On motor-vehicle-only roadways, the car will be able to keep itself in its lane, make lane changes and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.

Chevrolet will offer a Hot Wheels 50th Anniversary Edition on the 2018 Camaro.The package pays homage to Hot Wheels features including unique badging, a "Crush" exterior color and stripes that replicate the toys' famous orange tracks. The package is a $4,995 option on the Camaro 2LT and 2SS coupe and convertible models. A Hot Wheels package also will be available on the 2018 COPO Camaro, a drag-specific racer.

The Mitsubishi e-Evolution concept is less a hint at a specific future model and more of a showcase of future vehicle design and technologies, the automaker said. It uses three electric motors: one at the front axle to move the front wheels, and a pair of electric motors at the rear wheels. In addition to AWD, the system uses torque vectoring.

The Subaru Viziv Performance Concept hints at a new more muscular, athletic design direction, complete with fender fins and aerodynamic venting. The concept on display in Tokyo previews the packaging of a performance model such as the WRX. The car is the latest in a series of Subaru Viziv concepts that take their name from "vision for innovation."
