The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance has emerged as the world's biggest seller of light vehicles in 2017, bumping VW Group from the top. Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi sold about 10.61 million light vehicles compared with 10.53 million for VW Group.
Carlos Ghosn opened the door to stepping down as Renault CEO, as he focuses on the Franco-Japanese alliance he built with Nissan and Mitsubishi. Renault is said to be searching for a successor who could take on a more operational role - with people who work at Renault or who once worked at the automaker as the top candidates.
