U.S. automakers are facing mounting pressure amid slowing demand in the country, as Asian and European automakers aggressively ramp up vehicle production in North America, including a new investment by Daimler.

China said to mull relaxing restrictions on foreign EV makers

China may allow foreign automakers to set up wholly owned EV businesses in its free-trade zones, Bloomberg reported. A relaxation of the country's joint venture rule would give companies such as Tesla the opportunity to set up fully owned manufacturing operations in China.
