Time for Chinese regulators to punish the copycats

Over the years, most major Chinese carmakers have outgrown their copycat phase. They've built their own car design teams and tapped foreign design talents to lead them. Yet, China's regulators still protect domestic companies that continue to copy foreign models.

JLR finally makes its move against Chinese copycat

Despite widespread and often blatant copying of vehicle designs in China, global automakers generally don't take legal action in the country. But now, Reuters reports that Jaguar Land Rover is suing the Chinese automaker Jiangling Motor in a Beijing court, for alleging that the Land Wind X7 SUV copies the design of the Range Rover Evoque.
