New process reduces size, boosts accuracy of press
Delphi Automotive
What: Fourth-generation manifold air-pressure sensor
Innovation: The first generation of Delphi’s pressure sensor, the size of a computer mouse, required 28,900 square feet of manufacturing floor space. Today’s fourth generation is the size of a small tooth and requires 6,269 square feet of space. Delphi can now produce more accurate custom sensors on a single assembly line while lowering warranty problems from 51 problem parts per million to less than 10 with this sensor.
First customer: General Motors, various engine nameplates, 2007
