Nissan Qashqai
The Qashqai production car takes styling cues from Nissan's Murano medium SUV. Built on Nissan and alliance partner Renault's C architecture, which also underpins the Almera and Renault Megane, the Qashqai is front-wheel drive with optional all-wheel drive. The Qashqai is one of two replacements for the Almera, which sold 19,886 units in the first half, down from 37,204 units the year before, according to JATO Dynamics. The other is the Note small minivan, which went on sale in February, and sold 29,214 units in the first half. The car goes on sale in February, with prices starting at €19,000. It's the first production car from Nissan's new design center in London and was developed at its European technical center in Cranfield, England. Nissan aims to sell 100,000 Qashqais a year. It is built in Sunderland, northeast England. Some Qashqais will be exported to Japan and other non-European markets.
