Mitsubishi Outlander
Mitsubishi sold 4,502 Outlanders in Europe in the first half, according to JATO Dynamics. But the Japanese carmaker aims to boost European Outlander sales substantially next year. That is when the new generation will arrive offering the first diesel version of the medium SUV. Daniel Nacass, Mitsubishi Motors Europe spokesman, says diesels represent 63 percent of the sales in the segment. The new Outlander already is on sale in Japan and the U.S. In Paris, it's shown as a near-production concept that will go on sale in Europe starting early next year. The SUV's new 140hp, 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine comes from Volkswagen. A 2.2-liter turbodiesel will be available in 2008.
