Kia Cee'd
Kia's Cee'd production car and Hyundai's Arnejs near-production concept were designed in Germany to meet European tastes. The five-door hatchbacks will be built in the Korean carmakers' new factories in central Europe. They will challenge European brands' dominance of the hotly contested lower-medium segment, which is led by the Volkswagen Golf. The Cee'd was designed at Kia's new styling center in Rüsselsheim and will be built at the company's €1.1 billion, 300,000-unit-a-year plant in Zilina, Slovakia, which is due to open in December. The car will go on sale starting in January. Different positioning Kia and Hyundai promise different positioning for the cars, which will share a platform and many components. The Cee'd will attempt to appeal to drivers who want a sporty-looking car, while the Arnejs will be more upscale.
